This year’s Earth Day, themed ‘Planet vs. Plastics’, underscores the critical need for businesses to recognise the staggering impact of plastic pollution. Over the last 60 years, around eight billion tonnes of plastic have been produced, with a shocking 90.5% not recycled. Each year, about 11 million tonnes of plastic waste end up in our oceans.    At Yinson, we are reminded of our collective responsibility to protect the planet we call home. Our commitment to the global movement for sustainable and responsible business practices is guided by our sustainability principles, ensuring we operationalise our ESG strategies into our businesses.     One of the small, but meaningful, ways that we are demonstrating our commitment is through the reduction of our environmental footprint in the procurement of corporate items. Over the years, we have consciously embedded sustainability principles into our procurement processes, reflected in a shift to using upcycled materials, recycled plastic and repurposed items. As Yinson marks its 40th anniversary, we delve into a series of cherished memories and heartwarming stories shared by our Yinsonites. These dedicated individuals form the heartbeat of our organisation, and their experiences resonate across the globe.    Meet Alya Aisyah Fadil, Assistant Manager in the Corporate Sustainability department at Yinson Group’s Kuala Lumpur headquarters. Since joining the Yinson family in early 2023, Alya has had the privilege of collaborating with Yinsonites worldwide. From seasoned experts to compassionate colleagues, she has been enriched by their generous insights, nurturing her growth at Yinson in a short span of time.    Alya shared, “My fondest memory in Yinson is when I was given the opportunity to emcee our flagship investor event, sYnergy. The reason it’s one of my favourites is because the experience, although daunting at first, was one where I got to see all of us show up as our best selves. I witnessed how everyone collectively put their hearts and minds together to make the event a success. We are thrilled to witness the progress of Yinson Renewables’ Matarani solar PV project in Peru! Situated in the Mollendo Desert in the Arequipa region of Peru, this 97 MWp project is anticipated to be operational by the end of 2024. Throughout the month of March, Yinson offices worldwide celebrated International Women’s Day and the one-year anniversary of Yinson Lean In. From sharing inspiring personal stories, conducting empowering workshops and training sessions to providing insightful career reflections, we honoured the remarkable progress that we have made as an organisation in the area of equality, diversity and inclusion at country and Group levels.    In Brazil, Letícia Borges, HR Analyst, moderated a panel session featuring Viviane Carvalho, Materials and Logistic Specialist, Ana Rúbia Steffen, Instrumentation Engineer, and Alessandra Diz, Legal Counsel. They shared personal and professional stories, discussed sources of inspiration, and candidly addressed career challenges, offering practical tips for navigating the corporate world.    Meanwhile, in Ghana, Robell Abdul Samad, Group Talent and Learning Manager, delivered a keynote presentation on the theme #inspireinclusion, urging the team to strive for a more inclusive workplace.    Over in Oslo, we highlighted progress towards our 30 by 30 goals, celebrating milestones achieved in enhancing women’s representation across various roles within the company, and marking significant strides towards gender equality.     Then, in Malaysia, a short video showcasing the historical journey of women leaders striving for equality was aired, followed by a quiz on how both women and men can contribute to a more inclusive workplace.     At Group level, we launched six learning courses empowering employees to take assertive action and stand up for themselves and others. A few weeks later, a special webinar was organised for all Yinsonites. Led by Terri Forward, a UFIT coach, the webinar focused on the journey from period to menopause, providing valuable insights for all.  Many global offices also commemorated the anniversary of Yinson Lean In by hosting workshops, discussions and celebration events, equipping Yinsonites with the knowledge to grow together.    Hearing from our esteemed women colleagues inspired us, emphasising the importance of diverse perspectives in driving innovation and success. We are very proud to announce that Yinson Production has scored another landmark achievement with the grand naming ceremony for its third vessel destined for Brazil, FPSO Maria Quitéria. This feat follows closely on the heels of FPSO Atlanta, which held its own naming ceremony in December 2023 and has recently embarked on its voyage to the South American continent. Meanwhile, FPSO Anna Nery has been operating successfully at the Marlim Field in the eastern part of the Campos Basin since May 2023.   FPSO Maria Quitéria represents a step forward in the ESG standards. Equipped with cutting-edge technologies, it is designed to reduce emissions and enhance operational efficiency. Our commitment to safety is unwavering, as evidenced by our impeccable track record of zero Lost Time Incidents and our consistent project execution excellence.   As we move forward, FPSO Maria Quitéria will become a catalyst for regional growth and will play a pivotal role in meeting the energy demands of the region.
